Job Summary

Position Summary: The successful performance of the Activity Service Coordinator includes overseeing all aspects of Therapeutic Recreation and Volunteer services at The Heritage. This includes working closely with the LALD, evaluating performance of staff, and adhering to all state regulations.

Reports to: Executive Licensed Assisted Living Director

Employees Supervised: Como - Volunteer services

Responsibilities and Duties

Interpersonal Relationships

1. *Able to work constructively with all staff to plan, implement and maintain a well-run home health agency.

2. *Able to relate positively, effectively, and respectfully to clients, families, and other facility staff.

3. *Functions as a team member with other staff in the performance of duties.

4. Seeks and accepts feedback regarding the performance of job duties.

5. *Respects the confidentiality of client and staff information.

6. *Adheres to grooming/hygiene standards of Lyngblomsten.

7. Reports for work on time.

8. *Must be aware of and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.

Life Enrichment Tasks

1. *Provide leadership and coordinate the total Life Enrichment program.

2. *Facilitate planning and maintaining a creative and effective program based on current tenants needs. Activities must cover six-seven (MC) days a week, some evenings and weekends.

3. *Ensure that necessary records are kept.

4. Ensure that the department is adequately supplied.

5. Oversee care of activity areas, supplies, and equipment.

6. *Keep contact with the tenants.

7. Coordinator with Life Long Learning and the Arts Director for programming.
 

Operational Tasks

1. *Attends in-service, and completes online education assignments and training sessions as scheduled

2. *Displays awareness of current regulations as presented by the supervisor.

3. *Adheres to Lyngblomsten policies on safety, infection control, and resident rights.

4. Performs other tasks as assigned.
5. Must be able to drive recreational bus. 

Physical Demands

1. The employee must be able to walk 6 to 7 hours in an 8-hour work day.

2. The employee's job requires frequent (34%-66% of the 8-hour work day):

· bending and stooping

· reaching above shoulder level

· pushing and pulling

3. The employee's job requires occasional (1%-33% of the 8-hour day):

· squatting

· crouching

· kneeling

4. The employee's job requires carrying:

· up to 10 lbs. frequently

· 11-25 lbs. occasionally

5. The employee's job requires lifting:

· up to 20 lbs. frequently

· up to 50 lbs. occasionally

6. The employee's job requires the use of the right and left hands for repetitive actions such as:

· simple grasping

· firm grasping

· fine manipulating

Qualifications and Skills

Must have the desire to work with older adults

Volunteer management experience and the ability to plan and organize volunteer programs & services preferred.

At least 2 years of recent experience in a licensed assisted living facility with 2-4 years in a resident activity program preferred.

Must be willing to drive a small bus for resident outings

Leadership ability and willingness to cooperate with department heads and other personnel are necessary

Ability to lead, manage, and motivate staff and volunteers

Connections and/or affiliations with civic, social & professional organizations desired

Strong verbal and written communications skills are necessary
