Join our team in corrections medicine and make a difference—provide essential healthcare to underserved populations in a unique environment. The Bluebonnet Detention Center in Anson, TX is looking for your compassionate care and expertise in our medical department! Our dedicated staff work to improve lives through education, healthcare, and a variety of support services.
Essential responsibilities:
+ Under the direction of health services administrator, supervision nurse and professional service providers and in accordance with approved treatment protocol, assess condition of and prescribe treatment for detainees reporting to sick call.
+ Assist with provider line; prepare examining room and equipment.
+ Operate pill call, administer medication and document as required. This may include pushing and/or wheeling a pill cart on facility campus.
+ Control medication, syringes and other medical supplies or equipment as required.
+ Perform emergency procedures as needed and call the physician for treatment orders.
+ Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records. Observe applicable HIPAA rules.
+ Closely monitor all potential catastrophic illnesses.
+ Comply with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances.
+ Perform work on an on-call basis as required.
+ Prepare and maintain narrative, statistical, summary and operational records, reports, and logs.
+ Conduct chart review status of detainees with serious health problems for completion of all necessary intervention and treatment.
+ Perform rescue functions for accidents, emergencies, and disasters to include administering basic emergency medical aid, physically removing people away from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people from confined areas.
+ Requires prolonged periods of walking and standing.
Education and experience requirements:
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Graduate of an accredited licensed vocational nursing program.
+ Current, valid vocational nursing license for the state of Texas or a compact state.
+ Six months of related experience is needed.
+ Must have a current CPR certification.
+ A valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record is required, unless waived by management.
+ Successful completion of required pre-service training is mandatory.
