Qualifications • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program with a current license to practice in New York State • Demonstrates interest in the special needs of geriatric patients and possesses an ability to integrate principles of geriatric nursing into nursing practice • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing • Successful candidates will have a sincere passion for working with the elderly population • Knowledge of nursing theory and practice • Must have compassion, tolerance and understanding for the elderly | Responsibilities • POSITION: Licensed Practical Nurse - Full-time Nights 11-7am • Education in all areas of LTC/Subacute to ensure competency on all units in the facility • Participates in the nursing care of patients within the scope of the legal definition of the practice of practical nursing • The LPN works under the supervision and/or direction of a registered professional nurse • Participates in the formulation and implementation of patient care plans to meet the specialized needs of geriatric patients under the supervision of an RN • Administers patient care as assigned by an RN within departmental guidelines • As the unit situation requires, an LPN may be assigned to assume team leader, primary nurse or charge responsibilities under the direction of an RN • Directs and supervises non-professional staff as assigned • Observes, records and reports patient data as dictated by departmental policy • Participates in unit nursing and inter-disciplinary team activities • Administers medications and performs nursing procedures as dictated by departmental policy • Attends nursing and other institutional in-service programs and participates in departmental committees as assigned • Performs related and miscellaneous duties as directed • In an emergency situation, may be expected to perform unrelated duties Benefits • Full-time and Part-time Positions Available • We offer an excellent salary, dynamic work environment and a comprehensive benefits package • 1199 Union Benefits |
