Skilled, compassionate nursing care is key to the safety and survival of the fragile, special needs patients living at Children's Habilitation Center. That is why CHC employs registered professional nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants to provide around-the-clock expert nursing care to this unique patient population. CHC nurses have a variety of nursing experiences, including but not limited to neonatal critical care, pediatric critical care, neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, trach wound care and rehabilitation nursing.
All nursing staff are trained to care for ventilator-dependent, artificial airway patients. The tracheostomy/wound care nurse provides specialized care to our tracheostomy residents and other residents with wound care needs. One certified nursing assistant is assigned in each patient room to provide affectionate bedside care and stimulating active treatment to their assigned residents. All nursing employees are certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Many professional nursing staff also hold certifications in advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, pediatric emergency assessment and resuscitation, and intravenous therapy.
The scope of practice for CHC nursing is holistic, involving family in patient care whenever possible. We are devoted to nursing care that is safe, compassionate, loving, and stimulating in an atmosphere that is like home.
If you choose a career at CHC as an LPN, you will Administer and chart treatments and medications. Maintain the treatment cart clean and orderly, make frequent rounds to all assigned patients to assess patients and anticipate problems. Directs team assistants as needed-wound Care with wound care certification. Documents the stage, measurements (length, width, and depth), and condition (color, odor, drainage, ) of all breakdowns in the decubitus care book and medical record. Notify the physician of all new-onset breakdowns by completing an encounter. Monitors the healing process of all breakdowns; notifies nursing management and physicians using the Encounter Form. Complete trach tube changes per trach change schedule and CHC procedures and documents same in the medical record, on the MAR, and check to chart. Document problems or issues on the interdisciplinary progress. Maintain an extra trach and a step-down trach (per D. order) at each patient's bedside. Participate in quality improvement activities; precept new employees and provide training for caregivers/guardians as needed. See that all equipment is in working order and that supplies are available.

Salary: $30.40-$36.40 Depending on Qualifications
