CLASSIFICATION/STATUS: Temporary, Per Diem
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Lead Pharmacy Technician
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
Pay Range: Band A $16.00 - 18.00/hour

YOUR ROLE & IMPACT
As part of a dynamic team at Charles River Community Health (CRCH), a healthcare practice providing comprehensive, integrated, and compassionate care to underserved local communities, the Pharmacy Technician in Training will assist the pharmacy team in the preparation, billing, and dispensing of prescription and OTC medications to CRCH patients. This experience, under the supervision of Pharmacy leadership, will help the Pharmacy Technician in Training learn the skills required to prepare for the board-approved exam and become a Registered Pharmacy Technician in Massachusetts. CRCH Pharmacies are on-site pharmacies that are designed to provide exceptional outpatient pharmacy services to CRCH and community patients.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide exceptional customer service and accommodate patient needs in a timely, efficient, and caring manner.
- In the capacity of a Pharmacy Technician in Training, assist in preparation and dispensing of prescription medications while maintaining productivity, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Under the direction and supervision of the pharmacist on duty:
- Enter prescription data into data processing software
- Take stock bottles from the shelf for prescriptions
- Reconstitute prescriptions
- Label prescription containers
- Prepare unit-dose, modified unit-dose, and medication cards
- Make the offer to counsel
- Maintain patient records and prescription information using a pharmacy computer system.
- Answer telephone calls in a timely, professional manner.
- Other duties as assigned by Pharmacy leadership.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, TRAITS
- Active Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician in Training registration required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish highly preferred.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must be flexible and be able to work different schedules to meet the needs of the pharmacy and organization. (Pharmacy Department Hours: 9am-7pm Mon, Tues, Thurs. 9am-5pm Wed & Fri, and 9am-1pm Saturdays)
- Must maintain consistent schedule for duration of training, and must work at least eight hours per week.
- Must be able to work in fast-paced environment.
- Must possess ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks.
- Must have high level of integrity and transparency.
- Must be a fast learner who is ready and able to take on new responsibilities.
- Must be able to maintain a high volume of consistent work that is detailed, accurate, and complete
- Experience in diverse culture preferred.
- Experience working with historically underserved populations preferred.
