THE POSITION
The Licensed Dietary Cooks primary responsibility is to prepare food in adherence to federal, state, and local standards, as well as our established policies and procedures. Working under the guidance of the Dietary Manager, you will ensure the provision of high-quality food service at all times.
HOURS: Monday – Friday, 10 am – 7 pm, with an every other weekend rotation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- One (1) year of dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or related medical setting preferred.
- Experience with therapeutic diets.
- Proficiency in cooking a variety of foods in large quantities.
- Knowledge and experience in IDDSI diet is preferred.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work harmoniously with a diverse team.
- Familiarity with dietary practices, regulations, and laws related to hospital and nursing home operations.
- Leadership ability and willingness to learn and incorporate new methods.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review menus and follow recipes to prepare nutritious and appealing meals.
- Inspect special diet trays for accuracy.
- Coordinate dietary service with other departments.
- Work collaboratively with the facility's dietitian and Certified Dietary Manager.
- Ensure adherence to safety and sanitation regulations, including Infection Control and Universal Precautions policies.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work in well-lighted/ventilated areas with a warm atmosphere for cooking.
- Perform tasks such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently.
- Communicate effectively with medical staff, nursing staff, and other department supervisors.
- Attend and participate in continuing educational programs.
