Job Summary:
Provide psychological services including the application of psychological principles, methods and procedures of understanding, predicting, and influencing behavior, such as the principles pertaining to learning, perception, motivation, emotions, and interpersonal relationships; methods and procedures of interviewing, counseling, psychotherapy, behavior modification; and administering, and interpreting tests of mental abilities, aptitudes, interests, attitudes, personality characteristics, emotions, and motivations. The application of these principles and methods includes, but is not restricted to: diagnosis, prevention, treatment and amelioration of psychological problems and emotional and mental disorders of children and families
Job Requirements:
Minimum Education: Doctorate degree in psychology, educational psychology or in education with the field of specialization in counseling psychology or educational psychology Graduation from a regionally accredited doctoral program, including a pre-doctoral internship including at least 30% clinical work with children, adolescents, or family patients A one year post-doctoral training in a specialty area of clinical child psychology.
Certification/Licensure: Licensed in the State of California (A psychologist certified or licensed in another state or province and who has made application to the Board for license in California may perform psychological services without a valid California license for a period not to exceed 180 calendar days from the time of submitting his or her application or commencement of residency in California)
Medical Staff Membership: Required in order to practice at this facility
Minimum Experience: Experience working with children and families and with a culturally diverse population. Knowledge/Skills: Normal and atypical child development Child, adult, and family assessment Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary setting with a diverse group of professional and support staff. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and problem solving skills Ability to work under pressure and to respond effectively to crises. Position requires: 1) moderate physical activity such as sitting, traveling, walking, driving, bending, lifting, and computer usage; 2) ability to work independently, organize tasks, problem solve, make decisions, and handle multiple priorities; 3) interpersonal skills with co-workers and with client families in varied settings.
