Department Summary:The Eugene and Maxine Rosenfeld Management Library is the research partner of the UCLA Anderson School of Management in particular and UCLA in general, and is an integral part of Anderson Computing & Information Services (ACIS). Rosenfeld Library offers study areas, specialty databases, and materials that support the UCLA Anderson curriculum in areas of business and management, such as accounting, business economics, strategy and policy, finance, human resources, marketing, organizational behavior, and more. The library is staffed by information experts who provide daily information support to a range of student, faculty, staff, and members of the public. Whether clients need help finding reserve materials, locating an op-ed in a recent copy of The Wall Street Journal, or devising a sophisticated search strategy for a cutting-edge academic paper, our team members strive to offer excellent customer service. The Access Services staff are part of the larger Unified Access Services organization working together to provide service to 8 libraries on the UCLA campus.Position Summary:
Reporting to the Access Services Lead, Rosenfeld Library, the Rosenfeld Evening and Weekend Assistant performs all Rosenfeld Library functions and supervises student staff. Major duties include circulation desk activities (including checkout/in, renewals, requests, answering patron questions, and enforcing Library policy), supervision and training of 4-8 FTE student employees, public service, handling billing questions, library card issuance, item record maintenance, responding to user complaints and safety and security issues, and basic technical processing. Responsible for ensuring that all access and public service functions are efficiently performed and coordinated nights and weekends, in the absence of other Access Services staff. Works collaboratively with the Access Services Lead in day-to-day planning and decision-making for the department. Assists in the Library's efforts to connect with patrons through various official UCLA Library web and social media outlets to promote and provide library services, foster a sense of community, and to resolve problems. Serves as a UAS representative for the LibAnswers reference support team. Performs regularly scheduled hours responding to tickets triaged for UAS/Rosenfeld. Monitors the department's shared email accounts and responds to patron inquiries. Assists in the maintenance and update of UAS content on the UCLA Library webpages. Assists with the reservation and upkeep of Library owned bookable spaces in Rosenfeld. Works closely and collaboratively with other UAS evening and weekend staff to ensure safe and secure operations, and to provide emergency backup coverage for all libraries reporting to the University Librarian. Modifies work schedule when a need for coverage arises. Works with UAS colleagues, Community Services Officers, and UCPD to report and resolve safety and security issues in the libraries.

Knowledge and experience of the various operations of the circulation operation in an academic library, including billing, reserves, stacks maintenance, technical services, and public services. (Required) Experience supervising others including training, scheduling, delegating work, evaluating job performance, counseling, and taking appropriate disciplinary action. (Required) Demonstrated experience implementing short & long-term projects and priorities for a department. (Required) Experience with Library Service Platforms, such as Ex Libris’s Alma/Primo, including the ability to use circulation, interlibrary loan, and reserves modules and to train others. (Preferred) Experience working in a networked environment with demonstrated proficiency and capabilities with Microsoft Office 365 and online work collaboration tools such as Slack, Confluence, JIRA, etc. (Preferred) Basic technical processing skills such as adding items to records, adding barcodes to items, relabeling/updating call numbers, and changing item locations. (Preferred) Ability to make immediate decisions based on situational and policy/procedural considerations (i.e) need for flexibility, sensitivity to maintain good public relations, and the ability to analyze long-term impact of policy changes to various library user groups).
