About the Job
Along with performing all the daily tasks of a Waste Management Technician, the Senior Technician also serves as the primary on-the-job trainer and interim duty manager. Among your responsibilities is training and certifying new technicians on all departmental procedures and equipment. As a duty manager, you'll be responsible for either opening or closing operations. Typically, this involves staff supervision, coordination of waste and recycling collection, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and environmental policies.
• Assists with setting department standards as well as maintaining them through MC monitoring, auditing, training, and recertification.
• Works directly with waste management vendors to ensure waste is hauled in a timely, efficient manner.
• Monitors attendance and adjusts staffing, with approval, to meet park needs. Responsible for daily scheduling and organizing breaks and meal periods as necessary.
• Under the direction of supervisory staff, will assist with or be held accountable for: coaching, observing, and providing feedback on policy compliance.
• Able to utilize and train MCs on all applicable equipment.
• Supports the resort by acting as the secondary point of communication for all relevant recycling and waste information.
• Operates trash vehicles and compactors. Ensures all park waste is properly recycled or disposed of through contracted recycling vendors.
• Assists with enforcement and training of safety protocols such as: hazardous communications, blood borne pathogens, lock-out/tag-out, ladder safety, etc.
• Communicates and acts as needed regarding any operational, guest, maintenance, safety or staffing problems.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Hold a current class C driver’s license, clean driving record and meet California minimum liability car insurance requirements.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to support park operations.
• Requires excellent verbal English skills.
• Must possess consistent accelerated leadership abilities.
• Self-motivated with demonstrable initiative.
• Must be capable of training and creating documentation as needed to support the department.
• Must have strong problem-solving skills and remain dedicated to providing outstanding guest service.
• Ability to delegate and organize sporadic and long-term work assignments while maintaining attention to detail required.
• Familiarity with environmental and sustainability regulations at the Local, State, and Federal levels.
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time outdoors, with little to no sitting or leaning.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs or more.
• Role includes heavy lifting, pulling, pushing, walking, carrying, bending and other physical activity.
Education:
• High school diploma or general education degree (or equivalent education and experience) is required.
• General computer skills with an average understanding of MS Office.

Pay Range:USD $20.50/Hr.
