Appointment Duration: This position is a temporary position with an anticipated start of January 6, 2025, and will continue until the end of the 2025 legislative session, which is expected to end May 2025.

Position Summary
This Legislative Assistant reviews and produces committee, division, and subcommittee reports. The incumbent maintains databases and records related to committee, division, and subcommittee reports. This position produces and distributes floor amendments to Members of the Senate and the Senate Desk. This position assists in processing gubernatorial appointments for Senate confirmation on behalf of the President of the Senate.
During Legislative Session this position will be expected to work longer hours.
Primary Responsibilities
- Examine bills, resolutions, and amendments for proper insertion or deletion resulting from Senate action in standing committees, subcommittees, and divisions of the Senate with accurate committee reports to produce engrossments of legislation.
- Manage floor amendments for Members of the Senate to provide accurate and timely amendments during floor session under time constraints.
- Proof Senate Journal for the Secretary of the Senate to convert daily journals to permanent journals of the Senate.
- Assist the Assistant Engrossing Secretary in processing of gubernatorial and executive appointments for Senate confirmation with the President of the Senate to make appointments available for advice and consent of Senate and ensure compliance with statutory requirements for confirmation.
Minimum Qualifications
Degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Administration, Social Science, Public Policy, Business Administration, or related area of study.
OR
One (1) year of work experience in state government, policy advocacy, community organization, customer service in office setting, administrative support, service in the military, legislative session serving in any capacity, or related.
In addition to the qualifications listed above, applicants must demonstrate strong skills in:
- Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel)
- Grammar, punctuation, spelling, and composition.

- Knowledge of the legislative process.
- Skills to work proficiently in a time sensitive environment.
