About the Job
We are seeking a dedicated Legal Secretary to support our client's investigative team. The PMC is responsible for the professional discipline of physicians, physician assistants, and specialist assistants. All complaints of misconduct are thoroughly investigated to ensure compliance with State Education Law and uphold professional standards. This role will involve handling investigative tasks, documenting case details, and supporting the investigation process.
- Investigate complaints and develop investigative plans for cases involving violations of State Education Law 6530.
- Conduct in-person and telephone interviews with complainants and physicians.
- Draft correspondence to subjects of investigation in compliance with NYS Public Health Law Section 230.
- Obtain and review confidential data to locate subjects of investigation.
- Review and summarize previous OPMC investigations of the subject physician.
- Document all investigative actions following established OPMC protocols.
- Maintain the OPMC database (iTrak) to track completed investigative actions.
- Prepare investigative summaries, including recommendations for case disposition.
- Prepare and send correspondence to complainants and physicians regarding case disposition, when appropriate.
- Present cases to the Investigation Committee of the Board for Professional Medical Conduct when misconduct is identified.
- Respond to telephone inquiries from licensees and complainants regarding case status and proceedings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous investigative experience
- Knowledge of current investigative techniques
Preferred Qualifications:
- Computer skills including basic word processing and database applications
- Experience with the professional medical conduct process
