About the Job
Our client, a growing and reputable Houston area law firm, has a new opportunity for an organized and experienced Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary to join their firm on either a long term contract/temporary basis, temp to hire basis or direct hire/permanent basis. This exciting opportunity involves providing comprehensive support to a team of attorneys and assisting with various legal tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the firm.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepare, edit, and finalize pleadings, notices, motions, and other legal documents.
- Responsible for numerous edits and revisions to letters and forms daily.
- E-filings in various courts (state and federal)
- Citations – Coordinate Service of Process.
- Schedule hearings and depositions.
- Manage the calendar for all meetings and critical deadlines/dates.
- Maintain and organize all forms and templates.
- Submit check requests and expense reimbursements to accounting department.
- Assist with various clerical responsibilities.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of litigation experience is required to excel in this role.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential to effectively manage legal tasks and interactions.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and quality of legal documents and correspondence.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks efficiently and meeting deadlines effectively.
- A professional demeanor and strong work ethic, demonstrating commitment to delivering exceptional support.
- E-filing experience is necessary to successfully navigate court procedures and requirements.
- Prior litigation experience is a must, allowing for seamless integration into the firm's practices.
- Familiarity with PowerPoint and Excel is a plus, contributing to the efficiency of various legal tasks.
- A background in construction litigation and employment law is considered a HUGE plus, providing valuable expertise to the firm's practice areas.
