Required Skills:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as an assistant in a law office or corporate law department
- Knowledge of Florida law and courts is required
- Insurance defense background and personal injury experience is strongly preferred
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
- Trial support experience
- Experience working in a paperless environment preferred.
- Successful candidates will have experience in a high-volume litigation environment that includes but is not limited to preparing pleadings and discovery, scheduling depositions, scheduling IMEs, ordering medical records, maintaining Outlook calendars, data maintenance, and client/claims/home office contact.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Legal Secretary Overview:
We are seeking an experienced REMOTE Legal Assistant who resides in Florida to provide full litigation support to Tort team. The ideal candidate will join a high-volume, paperless environment that is both dynamic and rewarding. The selected Legal Assistant shall provide support to the Tort Attorneys who handle first and third-party auto and general liability cases. In addition, this individual will also assist with general office support.
Responsibilities:
- Utilizes appropriate software to timely prepare, e-file, order medical records and create correspondence, reports, briefs, motions, pleadings, discovery and deposition notice summaries
- Creates/edits court documents consistent with Florid state court requirements
- Keeps attorney calendar current based on court notifications and depositions
- Schedules depositions, hearing and mediations with needed parties
- Assist attorneys as needed in preparation for trial or discovery
- Provides extensive scheduling and calendar activity, including depositions, deposition and mediations
- Reviews electronic mail and document production a daily basis
- Prepares correspondence, invoices and electronic legal files
- Demonstrate professional diplomacy during each interaction with clients, opposing counsel, home office staff, Attorneys, teammates, claim partners and court employees
- Manage and manipulate electronic documents such as TIF, PDF and JPG formats
- Assist in overall support of the office as needed which could include: scanning case matching, mail handling, photocopying, limited filing, CD duplication, PDF compilation and file conversion
