Job Details
We are seeking a skilled legal secretary to join our defense litigation team. The ideal candidate will have experience with electronic court filings and a background in defense litigation. The legal secretary will provide administrative support to attorneys, manage legal documentation, and ensure efficient operation of the office.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and briefs, using electronic filing systems.
- Maintain attorney calendars, scheduling appointments, and meetings.
- Organize and maintain legal files, both electronic and physical copies.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel in a professional manner.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and meetings.
- Perform legal research using online resources and databases.
- Draft correspondence and legal documents under attorney supervision.
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail and emails related to legal matters.
- Provide administrative support, such as answering phones, photocopying, and filing.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or certification in legal studies is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a legal secretary in a law firm setting.
- Proficiency in electronic court filing systems
- Strong knowledge of defense litigation procedures and terminology.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other legal software.
