Our client, a well-established and dynamic law firm located in Oakland, CA, is seeking a highly organized and proactive Legal Practice Assistant to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to support a team of legal professionals in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
As a Legal Practice Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the firm’s daily activities. You will be responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to attorneys and other legal staff, assisting with case preparation, managing client files, and handling legal documents. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Hybrid schedule
Salary: $104 - $110k
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting, proofreading, and formatting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and contracts
- Maintaining and organizing client files, both physical and electronic
- Managing attorneys' calendars and scheduling appointments, hearings, and meetings
- Preparing and filing legal documents with courts, administrative agencies, and other entities
- Communicating with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals
- Assisting with discovery, including document management and organizing case materials
- Conducting legal research as needed
- Assisting with billing and timekeeping for attorneys
- Handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a legal assistant or legal administrative ro
- Knowledge in construction or real estate law.
- Knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and document preparation
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software (e.g., Clio, LexisNexis)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with California state and federal court procedures is a plus
- Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certification
