Legal Office Administrative Assistant - Dalal & Mehta Law, LLC

Note: This role is projected to start mid-July. The hiring/interviewing process will begin early June. 

Job Description:

FLSA: Full Time | Hourly | Non-Exempt

Location: In-Person; Monday - Friday 9a-5p in Iselin, NJ. 

We are looking for a self-motivated Legal Assistant to ensure the smooth running of the office and effective case management. You will provide a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of an attorney.

Responsibilities:

Provide administrative support to lawyers and enhance office effectiveness

Handle communication with clients, witnesses, etc.

Administratively support and attend trials

Prepare case briefs and summarize depositions, interrogatories, and testimony

Conduct investigations and statistical/documentary research

Locate and develop case-relevant information

Type up and file basic legal documents and correspondence

Answer and direct phone calls

Maintain contact lists

Monitor deadlines and juggle calendars

Skills/Qualifications:

Proven working experience as a Legal Assistant or similar; preferred. 

Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols, and the court system is preferred. 

Satisfactory knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a legal office

Computer literacy, including Excel, Microsoft, Teams, etc. 

Proficiency in English is required. 

Working knowledge of case management software

Excellent secretarial and organizational skills

Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure

Compensation: The base pay for this role is commensurate with experience/education. The base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  Base pay is based on market location.

Work Conditions: This position will perform duties under normal office working conditions, including the prolonged use of a computer, and office equipment, and working in close proximity to others. Essential physical requirements may include standing, walking, stooping, typing, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
