Legal Assistant - Personal Injury & Criminal Law

MUST:
3-5 years of legal assistant experience, with a focus on Personal Injury and Criminal Law.
Exceptional research, writing, and organizational skills.
Proficient in legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
Strong knowledge of legal terminology and document formatting.
Ability to handle a high caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software (e.g., Clio, MyCase).
Familiarity with state and federal court rules and procedures.
Experience with trial preparation and case management software preferred
Spanish language proficiency is preferred but not required.
Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Assistant Certification, or a related field is preferred.
DUTIES:
Assist attorneys with case preparation for both personal injury and criminal law matters, including organizing and maintaining case files.
Perform legal research and draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence.
Draft and file legal documents with courts and governmental agencies.
Communicate with clients to gather necessary information, schedule meetings, and provide case updates.
Manage case calendars, ensuring deadlines are met and tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Coordinate with medical providers, expert witnesses, and law enforcement as needed for case development.
Handle confidential and sensitive information with the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
Assist with trial preparation, including preparing exhibits, witness lists, and trial notebooks.
Maintain and organize case files, both physical and electronic.
Provide general administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling meetings, answering phones, and preparing reports.
