Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Legal Content Editor to join our Education department. The Legal Content Editor will play a crucial role in formatting, editing, and proofreading various documents for our Education programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Format, proofread, and edit speaker papers for publication, ensuring adherence to content, subject matter, appropriateness, length, and copyright standards.
Coordinate the production of course materials for seminars and colleges, including establishing and maintaining production schedules, and assisting in the production of convention reference materials.
Research and develop content for AAJ Press book products, involving drafting marketing copy, researching potential titles and authors, reaching out to potential authors and publishers, and collaborating with authors and publishers to meet deadlines.
Handle reprint requests promptly and efficiently.
Compile and proofread clarifications for AAJ's Student Trial Advocacy Competition.
Manage the upload of course materials for AAJ's Winter and Annual Conventions on AAJ's Learning Management System.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required; J.D. with law review experience preferred.
Writing and editing experience essential. One to three years of experience in civil litigation or law review experience preferred.
Strong editing and formatting skills, including proficiency in proofreading and Bluebook citations, with meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to exercise judgment and discretion while working independently. Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the capacity to effectively collaborate with members and expert authors.
Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Westlaw and/or Lexis research.
Passion for the mission and services provided by the American Association for Justice.
Occasional travel may be required.
