Legal Assistant Position Overview
The Legal Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the General Counsel. This role involves conducting legal research, supporting various projects, preparing and maintaining legal documents and contracts, and assisting in both the discovery process and civil court proceedings. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with precision and attention to detail.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but is not limited to:
- Provide a broad variety of administrative and clerical support for general counsel
- Conduct legal research and support activities on various projects
- Prepare, review, and maintain agreements and legal documents
- Ensure all terms are accurately reflected and legally sound in contracts before finalizing
- Keep an organized system for storing and maintaining legal documents
- Conduct legal research on intellectual property issues and maintain records of IP portfolios
- Assist in preparing for litigation, including organizing evidence and managing case files
Qualification Requirements
- Associate's degree in paralegal studies, legal assistant, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- 3-5 years of paralegal or legal assistant experience within the construction industry
- Knowledge of intellectual property law and related legal procedures
- Proficient in utilizing databases such as USPTO, WIPO, and other IP-related resources
- Experience with legal operations and tools preferred
- Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
- Self-motivated with a sense of urgency
- Prioritizes conflicting needs - handles matters expeditiously, proactively, and follows through on projects to successful completion, often with deadlines
- Very strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent communications skills and positive interactions with others
- A strong work ethic and diligence in follow through
- Proficiency in legal research and writing
- Proficiency with MS Office
