Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to join our team. The Legal Assistant will provide administrative support to attorneys and paralegals, assist with case management tasks, and ensure the smooth operation of the firm's legal processes.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys and paralegals with drafting legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
- Manage and organize case files, including maintaining electronic and physical filing systems.
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant case-related information as needed.
- Prepare and file legal documents with courts and government agencies.
- Coordinate meetings, appointments, and court appearances for attorneys.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to schedule appointments and gather information.
- Prepare correspondence, memos, and other written communications.
- Assist with billing and invoicing tasks, including tracking billable hours and expenses.
- Perform general administrative tasks, such as answering phones, responding to emails, and photocopying documents.
- Provide support during trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings as required.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous experience working as a legal assistant or in a related administrative role preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other basic computer skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures is a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
This position is fully remote, although the firm retains the flexibility to transition to an in-office or hybrid work setting as needed. Currently, there are no intentions to shift to office-based work for this role, but the option remains open.
