Position Summary:
The Legal Assistant is responsible for conducting comprehensive investigations across a broad range of legal matters. Your investigative skills and legal knowledge will be essential for building strong cases and achieving successful resolutions. You'll collaborate with a team to gather evidence, interview witnesses and prepare reports that are crucial to the legal process. You'll leverage your investigative skills and legal knowledge to tackle a wide range of cases, collaborating closely with attorneys and other legal professionals to achieve successful outcomes.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive investigations, including evidence gathering, witness interviews, and data analysis
- Maintain meticulous records and ensure compliance with state statutes and agency protocols
- Analyze complex legal issues and underlying legal framework
- Prepare detailed reports, draft legal documents and maintain case records
- Represent the agency as an expert witness in administrative and judicial proceedings
- Formulate well-reasoned conclusions supported by legal authority
- Collaborate effectively with attorneys, investigators, professionals, and other agencies
- Provide the highest level of confidentiality at all times
- Manages multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently
- Responsible for adhering to all government regulations and company standards
- Maintains professionalism and tact while handling situations
- Travel to other locations when requested by manager
- Other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven track record of successfully resolving complex legal investigations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present findings and interact with diverse stakeholders clearly and concisely
- Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional record keeping abilities
- Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented to effectively handle multiple tasks
- Experience using legal research tools
- Able to work independently
- Self-motivated and takes initiative
- Able to pass background checks
Education & Experience:
- At minimum a relevant Bachelor's Degree or Juris Doctorate (J.D.) strongly preferred
- At least one year of experience and knowledge of investigative best practices and interviewing techniques
Physical Demands:
- Ability to be physically mobile (stand, walk, reach, climb, bend) and also the ability to stand for prolonged periods throughout the day/work hours when needed
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment, keyboard, copier, telephone, and the ability to write/type
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally
