Job Details
A prestigious law firm with a long-standing reputation for excellence, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our Insurance Defense and Tort Law practice.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive professional with strong organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to attorneys specializing in insurance defense and tort law.
- Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, discovery responses, correspondence, and reports.
- Manage and maintain case files, both electronic and physical, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Schedule appointments, hearings, depositions, and other court-related appearances, coordinating with clients and opposing counsel as needed.
- Assist in preparing materials for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.
- Conduct preliminary legal research and gather relevant case information.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, insurance adjusters, and court personnel.
- Monitor deadlines and manage attorney calendars to ensure compliance with court rules and procedural requirements.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, including e-filings and service of court documents.
- Handle billing and time entry tasks using firm software.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in insurance defense or tort law.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and rules of civil procedure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management software; experience with e-filing systems preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- High level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Associate degree or certificate in Legal Studies or Paralegal Studies.
- Familiarity with Florida state and federal court systems.
