Chartwell Law office is currently seeking a full time Legal Assistant for the General Liability team in our New York, NY office. The ideal candidate must have at least three years' experience preparing discovery responses/pleadings and motions and legal assistant responsibilities. Must have excellent organizational, communication, writing, research skills, and the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
Primary Job Duties:
- Familiarity with standard procedures and protocols and court filings within NYS.
- Preparing documents for pleadings, discovery, motions, letter correspondence, etc.
- Organization of case files; gathering, organizing and analyzing data
- Ideal candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Works closely with attorneys and in-office billing department including accounts receivable
- Organize, chart and process incoming records and invoices
- Follow up for outstanding records via telephone, e-mail and regular mail
- Edit Motion and discovery documents
- Prepare Affidavits of Service and facilitate outgoing documents to the Court and to adversaries
- Prepare court filings; and e-filing
- Candidates must have a minimum of 2 - 3 years' legal experience
- Candidates must have experience in preparing and serving documents
- Candidates will be required to enter and bill their time
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook as well as other Microsoft Office applications including Word, Adobe PDF creation and searches
- Familiarity with and prior use of Aderant Total Office (ATO), knowledge of Aderant Expert is a plus
