Legal Secretary Position Overview: As a Legal Assistant, you will play a critical role in assisting our attorneys with managing legal matters, preparing documentation, and maintaining case files. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Legal Assistant Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, draft, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal forms.
- Organize and maintain case files, both physical and electronic, ensuring that they are up-to-date and accessible.
- Assist attorneys in legal research and preparation for trials, hearings, and depositions.
- Manage attorney calendars, scheduling meetings, court dates, depositions, and other key events.
- File legal documents with courts and government agencies, including e-filing where applicable.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel, providing updates and gathering necessary information.
- Assist in managing discovery, including document production and organization.
- Track case deadlines, ensuring that all critical timelines are met.
- Coordinate travel and logistics for attorneys as needed.
- Provide administrative support, including answering phones, managing correspondence, and organizing case-related materials.
Legal Assistant Qualifications:.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar administrative role (preferably in a law firm environment).
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, document preparation, and office procedures.
- Experience with filing legal documents in state and federal courts (e-filing experience is a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal management software (e.g., Clio, ProLaw).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
