Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
+ Serve as primary instructor for a hybrid online/on-campus, 3-credit course that serves eight to 20 master's level students.
+ Develop new lecture material or modify other program lecture material on the extraction and purification of plant-derived medicines, assessment of compound abundance and identity using LC/MS techniques, detection of pesticides by gas chromatography, heavy metal contamination by ICP-MS, botanical identification by PCR techniques and other related topics.
+ Deliver lectures, conduct small group discussions, moderate student presentations, and invite and host guest speakers.
+ Develop, administer and grade assessments that ensure student learning.
+ Maintain an active Canvas course shell with learning materials, discussion boards, quizzes, and other assessments with clear instructions and deadlines.
+ Work with MSPS Program Director to compile and enter final grades.
+ Where available, support extracurricular learning opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:
+ MS degree in pharmaceutical sciences with an emphasis in cannabis science & medicine
+ A minimum of one year of post-graduate experience in laboratory research and pharmacokinetic modeling
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience working with the Canvas learning management system.
+ Willingness to learn how to set up learning modules, assignments, and grading.
+ Previous experience with providing lectures to students or workshop participants.
+ Ability to problem-solve, multi-task, and work independently.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Thorough understanding of the MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences course of study, especially in the cannabis science & medicine specialty track.
+ Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
+ Excellent organizational skills.
+ Demonstrated proficiency in educating students in the analytical chemistry of plant-derived medicines.
+ Demonstrated proficiency with hybrid education and managing synchronous on-campus and remote learning.
+ Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Comfortable working independently.
+ Ability to work effectively as a member of the team yet act as coach or mentor when required.

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences seeks a Lecturer at the Master of Science level or above to fulfill the teaching and administration of a required, 3-credit didactic course on the chemical analysis of plant-based medicines (PSC 7710) for the Master of Science program in Pharmaceutical Sciences (MSPS). Preference will be given to individuals with industrial experience in the analysis of plant-derived medicines and those experienced with the Canvas learning management system. This is a term-limited appointment active only for the Spring 2025 academic semester beginning January 1, 2025 through May 21, 2025.
