Title: Lead Welder
Shift: 1st: M – TH 6am – 4:30pm + OT
Pay: $26-$28/hour and a bonus incentive
Location: North Canton, Ohio

Lead Welder Role:
As a Lead Welder, you will be responsible for supporting the production objectives for the weld department. In this role, you must be an organized, self-starter, with above average problem-solving ability. In this position, you must be able to work alone and unsupervised while under intense pressure from Production customers. As the Weld Lead you will set direction for all hourly welders and help resolve any issues they may have (chasing down parts, handling discrepancies, etc.).
Lead Welder Responsibilities:
- Give direction to all hourly employees in the department.
- Organize job duties and oversee training for new hires, as well as, meeting the matrix requirements for cross training.
- Mentor/facilitate safety squad/safety program activities.
- Organize/prioritize daily workflow to meet customer delivery dates.
- Create in-process inspection sheet and weld maps
- Perform discrepancy checks in the internal quality system
- Proficient in multi-tasking multiple areas within the department
- Proficiency in adapting to change based on customer requirements/needs.
- Capable of trouble shooting mechanical issues and failures
- Work with engineers, supervisors, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and meet customer demand.
- Coordinate inventory cycle counts
Reporting Relationships:
In this position you will report to the Fabrication Supervisor.
About You:
- Previous leadership experience (i.e. lead person, crew leader, etc.)
- 3 years’ experience welding (MIG/TIG)
- Ability to read technical documents such as technical manuals and mechanical engineered drawings.
- Ability to pass vertical/horizontal weld test including reading blueprints for weld.
- Must have your own welding gear (Helmet, work boots, gloves)
- Experience with PCs and Windows software. Database experience preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality system.
