The Lead Test Analyst has technical ownership of planning, design, and execution of manual and automated tests for internal development projects, to ensure quality, functional and non-functional conformity to product readiness.
- Plan and implement manual and automated testing (e.g., regression, functional, data validation, system integration, load, or performance tests) for new and existing functionality in internal development projects.
- Work closely with business analysis, product, and development teams to design testing strategies and integrate testing into the development process.
- Plan, create, execute, and automate test cases, working with developers, and other stakeholders.
- Document and analyse test results and recommend corrective action.
- Define, document, and implement testing best practice, monitoring and managing conformity as appropriate.
- Define and champion quality and testing best practices among development teams.
- Isolate, reproduce, report, manage, and maintain defects and test case systems, and verify fixes.
- Support user acceptance testing conducted for stakeholders or end users.
- Conduct exploratory testing and risk analysis for complex features, e.g., those that span across platforms, systems, or teams.
- Identify opportunities to reduce testing time and effort by automating repeatable tests.
- Understand and apply automated testing approaches and enhance and maintain the test automation framework.
- Research, recommend, and implement new testing technologies and practices, such as incorporating machine learning.
- Collaborate and share information with other QA teams, e.g., by participating in a community of practice.
- Ability to prioritise and manage work across multiple projects, consulting and communicating priorities as required.
- Managing the work of other testers within the project.
- Regularly communicate test performance metrics.
Essential
- Up to date knowledge of software test design and test methodologies in development projects.
- 3+ years' experience of test roles in a web environment.
- Leadership experience with the drive and insight to put the team first
- Experience designing and implementing test plans in a multi-project environment.
- Experience in a variety of testing efforts: integration, system and UAT.
- Ability to plan test design strategy including exploratory testing and designing test cases
- Strong knowledge of agile practices and experience with agile planning tools (e.g., Jira).
- Experience of using test case management tools. For example, TestRail or Zephyr
- Experience with application performance monitoring and observability tools.
- Experience of managing test automation, producing automated tests and use of automated testing tools, for example, Selenium.
- API testing knowledge and experience.
- Experience of using API testing tools such as Postman.
- Experienced in programmatic data formats such as JSON and XML
- Ability to effectively manage test workload, communicate blockers, excessive demand, or excess capacity. Comfortable reporting testing project to the project team and stakeholders.
- Ability to advise improvements to development quality assurance practice where appropriate.
- Experience of manage project teams.
- Knowledge of business processes and project delivery in healthcare.
- Demonstrable experience of both agile and traditional (waterfall) delivery project frameworks.
- Demonstrable knowledge of project management planning and governance.
- Proven experience interacting directly with end users and business stakeholders.
- Knowledge of databases and SQL.
- Proven ability of using core Microsoft Office products.
- ISTQB qualification in either Foundation software testing or Agile software testing
- End to end experience of the project development lifecycle.
- Confidence to work in a lead role and positively challenge the wider team
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation.
