This will be a team-teaching position in a cooperative work environment that values its teachers, students, and families. TCC prioritizes planning and prep time, research, professional development and creativity! Our program draws inspiration from a variety of research-based philosophies including the work of the Reggio-Emilia schools in Italy, Waldorf Education, Montessori Education, and spends the majority of our day outdoors in our well-appointed outdoor classrooms. Each Lead Teacher on our Preschool team has the opportunity to teach in small and large groups, in individual sessions, as well as part of a larger team. Each Classroom has access to an Atelier (art studio) Dramatic Playroom, Traditional Classroom, and STEM area, allowing teachers to have access to a wide variety of materials and to focus in on their talents, while also exploring the educational field beyond!
Job Details:
- The ideal candidate will join our dynamic team of educators to create, support and implement safe, fun, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate curriculum in a nature/outdoor focused setting for children ages 2 to 5 years. In addition to classroom design, curriculum development, and student assessments, this position also includes shared day to day tasks that assist and support the function of the classrooms including bathrooming, classroom maintenance, cleanliness, etc. This position requires dedication, experience, continuity, confidence and the ability to model best practices in the field of early childhood education, as we work closely with local universities to train interns and new teachers to the field of early childhood education.
- This is an ideal position for an EXPERIENCED educator interested in furthering their own professional development, making the transition from a traditional classroom teacher to mentor teacher, curriculum coach or other professional development role, while maintaining a strong presence in the classroom.
