Responsibilities:THE ROLE:
The AMD Strategic Silicon Solutions (S3) Board Design Team is seeking a dynamic, energetic expert board designer to contribute to the success of AMD’s product portfolio. As a System Board Design Engineer, you will be part of a leading team driving and enhancing AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market. The S3 Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes and facilitate continuous career development.
THE PERSON:
As a leader in Systems Design Engineering in S3, you will drive balanced, scalable, and automated solutions. Your software systems engineering expertise will be essential for product development, definition, and root cause resolution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, bring-up, and test validation and/or compliance boards for forthcoming AMD Semi-Custom SOC programs
- Plan, design, and support boards used by S3 and its customers to bring new custom SoC’s to market
- Lead customer-facing meetings related to AMD reference and customer board designs
- Drive thorough design reviews and signoff for your designs (schematic, layout, and BOM) prior to scheduled release for builds
- Own planning and execution of various Test Plans for the SoC (e.g., Transient Test Plan)
- Collaborate with the Vertical Core team, logistics team, and Procurement to plan and support board builds
- Drive continuous improvement in board development processes
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated experience in x86 based PC motherboard design or embedded system design
- Managing design recommendations and customer issues related to PCBA issues in a customer-facing role
- Designing and implementing point of load voltage regulator designs
- Working knowledge/experience with Cadence schematic capture and PCB layout tools
- Extensive experience with board/platform-level debug & ASIC debug techniques
- Hands on experience with common lab equipment, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multi-meters, programmable PSU, etc.
- Ability to interface and plan with external suppliers and manage deliverables
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong ability and interest to mentor others
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelors or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
