Our client offers comprehensive services in engineering, procurement, and construction for both new assets and operating assets in the following areas:
- Substations
- Overhead Transmission Lines
- Underground Transmission Lines
- Renewables Integration
- HVDC/FACTs
In this position, you will be able to:
- Serve as a technical lead specializing in substation design engineering, covering distribution, sub-transmission, and transmission voltage classes.
- Create electrical design outputs, such as protective relays for protection and control design, and/or physical design elements.
- Play an active role in management, project scheduling, and meetings related to work and resource planning.
- Engage directly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Ensure quality assurance and quality control for projects, while also providing mentorship to junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Standards:
- Continuously acquires and applies independent knowledge concerning departmental design guides, standards, systems, relevant engineering codes, and company policies and procedures for assigned tasks.
Quality/Continuous Improvement:
- Consistently and autonomously applies knowledge, adhering to company quality program in relation to assigned tasks.
- May be accountable for ensuring compliance with the company quality program.
- Provides guidance and direction to peers within the same project and discipline.
- Supports initiatives for continuous improvement and change management.
Engineering Production:
- Prepares various complex engineering deliverables.
- Conducts intricate research and formulates recommendations for equipment and/or material selection.
- Performs complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
- Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Plans and conducts independent evaluations, selecting and adapting engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Reviews lower-level engineering work or assignments.
- Holds responsibility for tasks such as overseeing data collection, assimilation, and management for engineering work, leading smaller production teams, and serving as the responsible charge for a project.
Project Coordination:
- Actively collaborates with all internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.
Client Focus:
- Assists in identifying key client interests and drivers on less complex projects.
- Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and devises approaches to address these concerns in project execution on less complex projects.
- May provide support for business development or pursuit activities.
Knowledge Sharing, Innovation, and Technology:
- Acknowledged as a technical specialist within the division, possessing in-depth knowledge of an engineering process and/or technical aspects of an industry.
- Designs complete projects of moderately complex scope within assigned practice area(s).
People Management - (supervision, career development, training, mentoring):
- Typically assists with the performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any required corrective actions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 7 or more successful years related work experience
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Micro Station software
- Substation Design experience – Physical and/or Protection & Controls
- Quality Assurance and Quality Control of substation design projects
- Professional Engineering (PE) License
- Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles

This is a hybrid opportunity located in multiple offices located across the states. Flexible hybrid expectations allow three in-office days and two flex/remote days per week.
