Lead Sterile Processing Tech - Atlantic Health System

Atlantic Health System, is seeking a Lead Sterile Processing Technician (Full-Time) for Central Sterile Supply at Morristown Medical Center.  Requires hours are: 6:30am –2:30pm, Monday - Friday including alternating weekends.

Essential Functions:

• Demonstrates adherence to department Quality Assurance logs - second staff signature - on all logs and any other pertinent information as outlined in department policies.
• Adheres to JCAHO/AAMI recommendations for sterile storage of supplies.
• Assumes responsibility for ensure receiving, decontamination, sterilization-preparation, wrapping, documentation, case cart management, biologicals etc.
• Follows established policies and procedures for delivery of sterile supplies to MNOR, L & D, Clinics, and off-site entities.
• Assures that trays are labeled correctly before sterilization, expediate the needs list and identified sets needed for scheduled surgery are accounted for daily and delivered to the OR in a timely manner.
• Assist with checking instrument trays on Out of Service Cart daily, locates missing items & completes trays.
• Prepares out of service list for ordering by Inventory Control Clerk.
• Performs all other duties/responsibilities of technician as required/assigned when not in charge.
• Monitors all staff members through teaching, demonstration, etc., as needed.

Requirements: 

• Knowledge of case cart preparation system, able to multitask, OR liaison, surgical instruments, and the different methods of sterilization (Steam, HLD, hydrogen), basic computer knowledge, with an instrument tracking system.
• Must be able to stand for prolong periods of time, heavy lifting of surgical sets, pulling and pushing of sterilization transport carts and case carts.
• The technician must perform tasks quickly and efficiently, paying close attention to details and understanding the principals involved in each task performed.
• The technician also performs a variety of duties to maintain infection control standards for the health and safety of hospital patients, medical staff, and personnel.
• Responsible for directing and communicating department workflow and Technician work assignments.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Must be Certified Central Service Technician. 

Relevant Experience: 

• Minimum 5 (five) years of experience in Sterile Processing or related experience preferred.
• Previous lead tech experience preferred.
