Our client, a global food manufacturer, is seeking a Lead Responsible Sourcing Manager for a 6+month contract position.
Fully remote position!

Position overview: Lead Responsible Sourcing Manager responsible for selecting partnerships, programs, and materials that reduce environmental impact, protect human rights, and support farmer livelihoods. This role involves collaboration with Global Procurement and Sustainability departments to drive resilient, ethical supply chains while ensuring alignment with sustainability policies and goals.
HERE'S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Recommend, implement, and manage North America procurement sustainability programs.
- Collaborate with NGOs, industry groups, and internal stakeholders to ensure responsible sourcing.
- Champion sustainable sourcing program to advance sustainable agriculture and improve farmer resiliency.
- Ensure compliance with responsible sourcing criteria and supplier selection processes.
- Support conservation of natural resources and ethical practices within the supply chain.
- Lead education and advocacy for sustainability practices across internal and external stakeholders.
- Respond to public and private data reporting requests, facilitating global alignment.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and external peers for benchmarking.
Skills Required:
- Sustainability and Environmental Knowledge:
- Expertise in sustainable agriculture and conservation.
- Familiarity with GHG emissions, renewable energy, and deforestation metrics.
- Stakeholder and Supplier Management:
- Experience managing relationships with NGOs, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Proficiency in supplier compliance and evaluation.
- Project Management:
- Leadership in sustainability programs
- Ability to balance multiple long-term strategies.
- Data Reporting and Analysis:
- Skilled in data collection and analysis for reporting.
- Familiarity with tools like SEDEX and grower surveys.
- Ethics and Compliance:
- Knowledge of human rights practices and risk mitigation.
- Communication and Education:
- Strong skills in stakeholder advocacy and global team alignment.
Experience Required:
- 5-7 years of related experience with a Master's Degree or 7-10 years with an undergraduate degree.
- Background in procurement and sustainability in consumer goods, ideally food or agriculture.
- Familiarity with greenhouse gas protocols, decarbonization, and net-zero goals.
- Program management experience preferred.
Education Required:
- Master's Degree in Agriculture, Sustainability, or Economics preferred. MBA may be acceptable based on experience.
Additional Information:
- Must work Eastern Time Zone hours with flexibility for global time zones.
- Fully remote role with occasional travel to Battle Creek, MI office.
