As a Database Administrator (DBA) at JPMorgan Chase within the Employee Platforms team, you will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of both SQL and NoSQL database systems, with a primary focus on Oracle and PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large-scale databases, ensuring their availability, reliability, and security. This role requires a deep understanding of database architecture, advanced troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Job responsibilities:
+ Configures, and maintains Oracle and PostgreSQL database systems.
+ Manages database instances, including monitoring performance, tuning, and optimizing.
+ Performs database backups, restores, and recovery operations.
+ Analyzes and optimizes query performance and database resources.
+ Monitors and manages database access, permissions, and roles.
+ Implements database indexing, partitioning, and other performance-enhancing techniques.
+ Develops and maintains automation scripts for database management tasks.
+ Utilizes tools and frameworks to automate database deployments and configuration management.
+ Provides advanced troubleshooting ,support for database-related issues and building high available resilient data layer platforms.
+ Collaborates with IT and development teams to resolve complex technical problems.
+ Maintains comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
+ Formal training or certification on software engineering* concepts and 5+ years applied experience
+ 7+ years of experience in database administration with a focus on Oracle databases.
+ Expertise in Oracle database architecture, RAC, Data Guard, and PL/SQL.
+ Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud database services.
+ Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB.
+ Proficiency in database performance tuning and optimization.
+ Advanced scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
+ Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, AWS Certified Database - Specialty) are highly desirable.
+ Knowledge of reporting tools like Tableau, AWS QuickSight
+ Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
+ Cloud certification like AWS Solution architect , Terraform certified or Dynatrace certified
