Our client is expanding our digital ecosystem and leading with a customer-first mindset, we’re delivering technology that empowers our customers and simplifies business.
This Technical Lead will be accountable for the development, and implementation of enterprise applications. They will work across business functions to deliver high performing applications that are scalable as well as easy to maintain.
The Lead Software Developer is responsible for development of technical solutions along with other software developers on the squad. As a Lead Software Developer, they must possess strong business acumen and develop working relationships with business, technical stakeholders and mentor junior developers on the squad.
This role will drive the team forward, assisting them through challenges to develop exciting, innovative solutions for our customers in the Ecommerce and Digital space. In addition, they work closely with other engineering leaders to optimize and enhance the customer experience.
Flexible Work Policy: The work for the Lead Software Developer position is completed 100% remotely anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories. This position may have the potential to travel up to 20% dependent on business needs.
Responsibilities
Develop detailed system requirement specifications and technical design documents for complex features.
Develop high-quality code for web and mobile applications.
Experience creating microservices from scratch
Write unit test cases to verify quality, performance, and functionality.
Conduct and participate in code reviews as part of oversight into team delivery.
Develop, coordinate, and release application bug fixes.
Support and lead junior team members by reviewing and reinforcing practices to develop high quality code.
Participation in sprint planning and other agile ceremonies.
Work with minimal supervision; provide regular status updates.
Escalate roadblocks and other challenges to leadership as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned by manager.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Close working relationship with entire product team. Regular interaction with solution architects and platform engineers.
External: Software and services vendors.
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in IT or other relevant area.
Experience leading a team- at least 3+ years of experience
Full-stack web and mobile application development preferred.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.
Proven ability to design and implement applications using best practices.
Proven ability to analyze and understand existing processes and code.
Demonstrates excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Motivated by solving complex business and technical problems.
Knowledge of DevOps concepts, telemetry, and alerting. Familiarity with agile development and test-driven development.
Proficiency in some of the following:
Java including Spring Boot framework
Creating microservices from scratch
DevOps and continuous delivery principles and tools
Angular/TypeScript/Ionic/NgRx
Kafka and event driven architecture
Relational and NoSQL Databases (Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB)
Education
B.S. in Computer Science or related technical field required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Computer Science.
Experience with AWS or other public cloud infrastructure and services.
Experience with Descartes Route Planner
Familiarity with:
Microservice architecture
Java 8
Docker and Kubernetes
WebLogic, Tomcat
Atlassian products: Bamboo, Bitbucket, Jira
