Model/Z is a trailblazing enterprise focused on reinventing multifamily housing through the development of standardized, modular units. Our mission is to provide high-quality, low-cost, and net-zero-ready housing solutions that are both scalable and practical, aiming to significantly mitigate homelessness and enhance living conditions for underrepresented communities. As a majority Black-owned and operated business based in Southern California, Model/Z is poised to establish the first standardized modular housing factory in the region.
Located in the historic Watts neighborhood of South Los Angeles, Model/Z is committed to revitalizing communities by employing local community members and paying living wages. Our innovative approach revolutionizes construction, transforming a traditional linear process into a parallel manufacturing system that allows us to build high-quality apartment homes in a factory before the concrete is even poured on-site. Requirements
- Lead and supervise a team of production assemblers in the assembly of modular housing units.
- Coordinate daily work activities, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules.
- Provide hands-on training and guidance to team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Ensure all assembly processes are carried out according to company standards, safety protocols, and quality specifications.
- Monitor and inspect work to ensure compliance with technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Identify and resolve any production issues or bottlenecks, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering and quality control, to optimize production processes and address any technical challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, including work orders, material usage, and labor hours.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Conduct thorough quality checks at each stage of assembly to ensure adherence to standards and specifications.
- Utilize a variety of hand and power tools to assemble, fasten, and secure modular housing elements.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Work closely with fellow assemblers, engineers, and other team members to achieve production goals and maintain a positive team dynamic.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
● High school diploma or equivalent.
● Strong focus on precision and quality in all aspects of assembly.
● Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team to achieve common goals.
● Proven experience working in an assembly environment
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools, power tools, cranes, and forklifts for assembly tasks
- Experience working with computers and manufacturing execution systems.
- Ability to make quick, informed decisions and solve problems effectively.
- Capacity to identify and troubleshoot assembly issues with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment and adjusting to changes in project requirements.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
- Available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
- Repetitive assembly operations, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position.
