About the Job
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of product engineering for high-speed photodiodes, ensuring top product performance and yield optimization.
- Interface directly with manufacturing facilities to streamline production processes and troubleshoot issues on-site.
- Collaborate with Product Development Engineers to effectively introduce new products into production environments.
- Analyze test and reliability data using statistical methods to address production challenges.
- Lead and potentially manage multi-disciplinary teams, fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation.
Education & Experience
- A master's degree or higher in Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics, or a closely related field is required.
- At least 10 years of industrial experience in product engineering, with a strong preference for experience in semiconductor optoelectronic devices such as photodiodes, and laser diodes.
Skills & Other Requirements
- Expertise in analyzing large sets of data and making informed recommendations to address and preempt potential issues in product performance.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
- Demonstrated ownership of product outcomes with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Working knowledge in III-V wafer processes, optoelectronic device testing, and reliability.
- Willingness to frequently travel to manufacturing sites to lead production efforts directly.
- Strong leadership skills with a clear focus on meeting and exceeding project goals.
- A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for the products managed.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively with teams across different disciplines.
- A proactive leader who can inspire innovation and drive process improvements across the board.
Working Conditions
- Primarily on-site, occasional travel to other Coherent sites possible.
- Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, carrying out multiple projects at a time.
Safety Requirements
All employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corporate EHS standards. This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.
Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently. They will ensure that risk assessments are performed, proper training, work instructions, required PPE is available, and will monitor compliance.

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
