Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree. Agile experience preferred. Must have Hardware Design and Development experience, as well as environmental testing and good understanding of Hardware Lifecycle.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position:ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:
As a mechanical engineer for submarine acoustic systems, you’ll lead a cross functional team responsible for the design and development of electronic equipment cabinets that house servers and various electrical components. The successful candidate will possess a robust engineering background and demonstrate expertise in interfacing with diverse subsystems, ensuring comprehensive integration and superior functionality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide and manage a team of hardware engineers in creating, developing, and integrating electronic equipment cabinets with servers and electrical components.
- Act as the principal technical liaison for all hardware-related facets of the electronic equipment cabinet systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, mechanical, and systems engineering, to guarantee system integration is in line with project objectives.
- Oversee the complete hardware development process, including requirement analysis, design, prototyping, testing, and documentation.
- Lead component selection, ensuring they meet technical requirements and adhere to quality standards.
- Produce and manage technical documentation such as drawings, schematics, and BOMs (Bill of Materials).
- Work closely with procurement and manufacturing departments to ensure smooth production of hardware parts and assemblies.
- Implement and uphold best practices in hardware engineering, maintaining compliance with industry norms and regulatory mandates.
- Mentor and provide technical direction to team members, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Administer project timelines, allocate resources effectively, and maintain budget adherence, ensuring project milestones are achieved.
- Regularly report on project status, potential risks, and opportunities to stakeholders and senior management.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or related field).
- 5+ years of experience in hardware engineering design and development.
- Proficiency in CAD software and engineering analysis tools.
- Proficient knowledge of server hardware, electrical components, and systems integration.
- Knowledgeable about electrical safety standards, EMC/EMI, and environmental compliance within the industry.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to tackle complex problems.
- Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
- Superior communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, which may be required due to government contract stipulations.
