Description

The primary responsibility of the Lead Maintenance Technician is to maintain the appearance of the YMCA Childcare Sites in excellent condition, both inside and out. Daily responsibilities may include running work orders (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, general contracting etc.), appliance repairs and exterior maintenance. Maintenance technicians are required to respond to after-hour emergencies; being on-call is a job requirement.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

• Perform facility and equipment inspections, identify maintenance and housekeeping needs.
• Perform maintenance & custodial tasks, in addition to preventative maintenance tasks.
• Complete work orders and other paperwork and documentation.
• Maintain maintenance and custodial supplies.
• Follow and enforce safety standards and other policies and procedures.
• Assists and manages additional Maintenance Technicians onsite
• Participate in After-Hours and Emergency Coverage
• Performs Basic: Drywall, Carpentry, Plumbing, Painting, Electrical, HVAC, Masonry, HAZMAT Abatement, and Appliance Repairs
• Responsible for the Care, Maintenance and Inventory of all Supplies and Equipment Onsite
• Responsible for the Supply and Upkeep of all Personal Tools
• Must be able to use current transportation to travel to different YMCA Childcare Sites.
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Carry out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical and professional manner.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties & responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location.

Education & Certifications: Must be 18 years of age. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Clean driving record required. Must obtain First Aid & CPR certifications within 60 days of employment.

Experience & Background: 5 years of experience required. Highly preferred to have a specialized skill in one or more of the following areas; Electrical, Carpentry, General Contracting or Project Management.

Knowledge of General Contracting type functions to include but not limited to: Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry and HVAC.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Lifting/carrying (supplies, blower, ladders, etc.):
• Over 150 lbs. Rare need (less than 1% of the time)
  • 75 - 150 lbs. Occasional need (1% to 33% of the time)
  • 25 - 75 lbs. Frequent need (33% to 66% of the time)
  • 1 - 25 lbs. Constant need (66% to 100% of the time)

NOTE: Lifting and carrying of weights exceeding 50 lbs. is often accomplished with assistance from one or more persons and while wearing the required, appropriate safety equipment. Examples of heaviest items lifted include classroom tables, chairs, bookshelves, refrigerators, A/C units, furniture, etc.
