Position Purpose
The primary purpose of the Lead Maintenance Specialist is to provide guidance to the maintenance team in keeping the facilities and equipment running safety and efficiently; promote continuous improvement by providing supplies, equipment, parts, and overall coordination of tasks within the maintenance department. Lead by influencing the maintenance team to achieve excellence in equipment uptime.
The Lead Maintenance Specialist will maintain personal compliance with IPG's Safety and Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and will actively communicate the provisions of the Code to assure broad support and understanding of the program.
Principle Accountabilities
- Assist engineering and maintenance teams with projects, equipment installations, repairs, and modifications. Lead some projects with minimum oversite from engineering.
- Oversee and maintain maintenance management database systems to ensure accurate tracking of maintenance labor hours, on-time PM completion and inventory management. Maintain work order database (input work orders, track and identify trends and areas for improvement). Responsible for daily work order entering.
- Coordinate and assist with the sourcing and purchasing of maintenance and facilities equipment and supplies. This includes securing replacement parts for obsolete and stock items, working with vendors to ensure they are a viable supplier from a pricing, availability, and quality standpoint.
- Plan and assign daily maintenance activities with safety as the primary target.
- Coach and train maintenance team to ensure skills meet levels required to support the operations. Provide input to Maintenance Manager on team skills and performance.
- Plan and administer the preventative and predictive maintenance schedules for the maintenance department to ensure activities are completed timely and accurately as required. This includes opening, assigning, and closing of all weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual preventative maintenance work orders.
- Serve as backup to ISO Coordinator for the department which includes various ISO duties (maintaining work instructions, validating calibration logs, updating procedures, internal audits).
- Support and promote safe working practices within the facility.
- Support the continuous improvement activities of the organization by participating in and coordinating action plans for plant-wide improvement activities or projects. Also provides reports, information and data to various departments as requested for projects and/or problem-solving.
- Related tasks as requested by supervisor.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Minimum associate degree and three to five years industrial maintenance experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Must be organized and able to handle multiple projects, and possess an understanding of the manufacturing maintenance responsibilities of entire facility
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Must be detail oriented and conscientious
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work with cross-functional teams
Physical Effort
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Also, must be able to climb ladders and
perform work at heights above floor level.
Working Environment
Manufacturing environment exposure which requires use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
