Lead Line Cook BG Culinary Services - Bishop Gadsden

We are looking for a full-time Lead Line Cook to join our culinary team at Bishop Gadsden, located on James Island! As a Lead Line Cook, this position ensures that food prepared by culinary services staff meets or exceeds quality standards that are established by the Executive Chef.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily implementation of programs and procedures which ensure the continued quality service of meals in accordance with expected facility standards
• Post the menu forecast for all kitchen employees to view
• Supervise kitchen preparation for service of all stations, food and equipment
• Support Executive Operations Manager in ensuring that all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, food and equipment policies and procedures are maintained by kitchen employees
• Support Executive Operations Manager in ensuring that all sanitation and nutrition practices, refrigeration and food temperature  logs and cleaning assignments are maintained by kitchen employees
• Inspect food garnishments for amount and quality
• Assist in conducting inventories and purchasing/receiving
• Assist in orienting new staff to department
• Supervise staff and assist with written performance evaluations, disciplinary actions as needed
• Promote teamwork and cooperation among staff and with other operational departments
• Participate in culinary services’ Manager on Duty program and assume the Sous Chef’s duties in his or her absence

Qualifications

• Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Manual dexterity, particularly in hands and arms, must have the ability to use hands to finger, handle and feel and ability to reach with hands and arms
• Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and balance
• Ability to lift and/or carry weights of up to 50 pounds
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written
• Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees

Required Education and Experience 

• Previous supervisory experience preferred
• Degree from a post-secondary culinary arts training program desirable
• A minimum of 2 years in a high volume food service operation
