Shift: Weekends, holidays and special events are required based on business needs. Weekly shift usually is 5 days per week.
FLSA Status: Non Exempt/Hourly Year Round
SUMMARY
Candidate must have 3-5 years of experience maintaining fixed grip and detachable lifts. Responsible for all aspects of lift maintenance. Must be knowledgeable and in compliance with industry standards for lift maintenance of both fixed and detachable lifts to troubleshoot lift issues and come to quick, positive results. Must possess solid leadership skills and represent Sundance and Mountain Operations appropriately and in support of guiding principles. Will work closely with Mountain Maintenance, Lift Maintenance and Lift Operations to ensure a seamless quality guest experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- 1+ years of experience as a Level 3 or equivalent experience.
- Responsible for all aspects of lift maintenance including pre-season, in-season, and post-season maintenance schedules.
- Complete summer service on all fixed, detachable and surface lifts.
- Work closely with all staff engaged in lift maintenance.
- Assist in the ongoing training of Lift Maintenance personnel, including Level 1, 2, and 3 according to industry standards.
- Attend industry training and events.
- Assist Lift Maintenance Manager with documenting staff training and provide follow up and accountability tools.
- Assist with managing annual maintenance schedule for planning of labor and expenses.
- Maintain daily schedule for maintenance projects.
- Assist Lift Maintenance Manager in keeping a maintenance schedule and plan to avoid unforeseen lift repairs that might negatively impact Sundance by loss of revenue or going over on budget.
- Assist with a 5-year rolling cap-ex for preventative lift maintenance needs.
- Work closely with Directors of Mountain Maintenance and Mountain Operations on various projects.
- Responsible for lift maintenance and operations in accordance with all safety, OSHA and insurance applicable guidelines and/or state and Federal laws.
- Work closely with Mountain Guard to ensure compliance with industry standards on operations and maintenance.
- Inspect and check all work for compliance to all standards.
- Assist with facilitating all annual and seasonal inspections, testing, and permitting according to both insurance and state requirements.
- Oversee all maintenance logs and required record keeping according to industry standards.
- Accurately and proficiently track, report, and document concerns and problems including lift incidents/accidents to resort management and appropriate agencies.
- Solve problems quickly with solid trouble shooting skills.
- Recognize when outside help is needed and call in those resources to minimize loss of operations.
- Coordinate with and develop relationships with industry professionals to ensure timely and professional service when needed.
- Assist Lift Operations Manager with lift operations when needed.
- Is prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
- Assist with all staff involved in maintenance of lifts.
- Always act as a leader and set an example to all staff.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting Manager with running an independent crew on any lift maintenance project; interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Financial management and accountability including preparation and adherence to departmental budget and willingness to implement improvements to achieve our financial goals.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or 3-5 years' experience as a lift mechanic for both fixed and detachable lifts; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, internet navigation and electronic mail. Operate 2-way radios for communication to other staff.
- Must possess a valid U.S. Drivers' License in good standing as determined by Sundance's Insurance Company guidelines.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
