The Lead Compliance Financial Analyst – SOX is responsible for managing Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts. This role includes designing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) to ensure compliance with SOX requirements. The SOX Manager will work closely with operational and finance partners to ensure processes are efficient and compliant with regulatory standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Manages enterprise Sarbanes-Oxley ACT (SOX) compliance and deliverables (i.e. development of the program and policies, risk assessment, certifications, control design, testing, remediation as applicable) for a portfolio of internal controls over financial reporting directly interacting with control owners (Director+) and process owners (Assistant Vice President+). This role is a key contributor to significant reporting to leadership, including the Corporate Controller and Audit Committee and has a visible impact on the organization.
- Evaluate internal controls in relation to business and IT processes that impact financial statements and operating procedures to ensure appropriate design and operating effectiveness.
- Work with process owners to design and implement control improvements and remediation plans for any identified deficiencies.
- Interact with senior management, executive levels, internal and external auditors to communicate SOX compliance requirements and updates.
- Facilitate reaching full Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance within the organization by providing training and guidance to employees on SOX compliance and internal controls.
- Conduct periodic reviews of internal control processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Lead initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the SOX compliance program.
- Stay updated on changes in SOX regulations and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in auditing, internal controls, or SOX compliance, preferably within a public company or public accounting firm.
- Exposure to general controls, application controls, interfaces, risk assessment, control, and test design.
- Strong understanding of SOX regulations and internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with SOX compliance software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA) is preferred.
