Job Details
The Lead Fabricator is a hands-on position that works to build our custom designed products. As part of a cross-functional team, this person has the responsibility consulting with our engineers on the feasibility of design constructability. This person also should be well versed in mig and tig welding as well as carpentry and mechanical assembly. This person would also act as a mentor and coach to junior members of the engineering and fabrication teams.
Requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
Read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
Construct base templates or jigs as necessary
Set up metalwork machinery Including rollers, drill presses, saws, brakes and welding equipment
Set up carpentry machinery Including saws, pneumatic tools and proper work bench
Mig and Tig Weld assemblies and sub-assemblies as dictated by project with a high level of attention to detail
Construct wood assemblies as dictated by project with a high level of attention to detail
Grinding and finishing completed products producing an aesthetically pleasing final product
Perform quality checks on completed projects prior to shipment
Oversee junior fabricators delegating workload and providing oversight, feedback and coaching when necessary
Work with engineers on material ordering for projects
Continually research new products that meet the technical requirements and design needs of current or upcoming projects
Build and maintain relationships with external suppliers
Maintain inventory of supplies and order replenishment as necessary

Qualifications:
Minimum of 6-years work experience in a relevant metal fabrication position
Finish carpentry experience
High level of comfort welding steel, stainless steel and aluminum materials
Ability to read and interpret engineered construction drawings
Able to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team in fast-paced environment on projects with short life cycles
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to lift at least 50lbs and stand for extended periods of time
Able to pass background check
