Who We Are:
The Aerospace Systems Engineering Section in the Strategic Aerospace Department provides an array of engineering support for several US Air Force Global Strike Command and Department of Defense programs. We provide engineering services to projects involving the design, development and maintenance of hardware and software systems for the strategic aerospace community, including aircraft and ground support equipment ranging from microcircuits to major subsystems. This position has the option of being a fully remote in the following states: AL, AZ, AR, Dis. of Columbia, FL, GA, MA, MD, MI, MN, NH, NC, OH, OK, OR, TX, UT, VA, WV only. The Alternate work location is Oklahoma City, OK.
Objectives of this Role:
- Work with Avionics, Electronic and Electrical engineering for complex systems avionics designs- Experience with Fault Tree Analyses, Signal Path Analyses, and Technical Risk Assessments.
- Development of statement of Work.
- Creation of Technical White Papers and Analysis.
- Perform and support evaluations of designs for electrical drawing development, review and analysis.
- Direct, develop, and perform management operations that involve planning, coordinating, and analyzing Engineering Schematics/Development to support Air Force weapon system programs to include support equipment, automated test equipment, and software.
- Support USAF Major Command System Platform programs that are in need of Engineering Support/Analysis in either Sustainment or Modernization
- Advise and assist in development and verification of systems requirements, and processes associated with development, fielding, Sustainment and modernization of Air Force weapons systems.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Avionics Engineer will develop requirements and architectures that involve all major subsystems of a USAF weapon system platform, from sensors and electronics to thrusters and power systems.
- Systems engineering to include systems and electrical design of, avionics systems or space systems.
- Perform Engineering trade studies to meet program requirements, concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
- Cable and wire design; thorough understanding of electrical circuit design within the system application; Conduct technical planning, specification derivation, modeling and, design, test planning and implementation, documentation, verification/validation to support overall system.
- Familiar with Government acquisitions; Familiar and/or experience with government Engineering practices and standards; evaluation of circuit performance of various circuit types.
Requirements:
- Requires a Bachelors or a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering
- 7+ years: Plans, manages, and/or performs analysis, research, design, development, fabrication, installation, modification, or sustainment of systems or systems components across the entire life cycle.
- 7+ years: Experience in working with Systems Engineering. or the conceptualization, initiation, design, development, test, contracting, production, logistical support, or modification of weapons and other systems, supplies, or services to satisfy DoD needs
- 7+ years: Experience in electronics/avionics Engineering. Experience using software applications to perform testing and analysis. Prepares and/or oversees contractual engineering task documents and associated specifications for specific or continuing projects.
- 7+ years: Experience in developing new knowledge, theory, methods, and/or procedures to resolve extremely difficult engineering problems impacting various programs, such as Legacy/Obsolescence and Platform Avionics. Advice/Assist the technical staff on highly complex designs and tests.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
