Lead Engineer, AMI Meter Applications - Eversource

About the Job
We are seeking someone to lead the evaluation, development, and implementation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) grid edge meter applications and other advanced AMI functionality. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of AMI systems, strong project management, and a proven history in software development and project management specifically related to metering technologies. This role involves overseeing the development lifecycle for AMI meter applications, ensuring that our solutions meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability. Additionally, this role requires providing business case analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making, road mapping, and resource allocation.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee the design, evaluation, development, and implementation of AMI meter applications.
- Ensure that meter application solutions are scalable, reliable, and secure.
- Oversee the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, testing, and deployment of AMI meter applications.
- Monitor metering industry developments and maintain working knowledge of AMI meter application capabilities, trends, and developments. Provide updates to program leadership, highlighting opportunities for enhancing Eversource’s AMI solution.
- Support road map for development projects, including defining scope, timelines, and resource allocation specifically for AMI meter applications.
- Support business case analysis to evaluate the financial and operational impacts of AMI meter application projects.
- Develop detailed reports outlining the cost-benefit analysis, return on investment, and strategic recommendations for AMI projects.
- Monitor and report on the performance of AMI meter applications, providing insights and actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of analysts and engineers focused on AMI meters and applications.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities for team members.
- Communicate with internal/external stakeholders; including Operations, Customer Service, Regulatory, and IT, to understand their needs related to AMI meter applications and translate them into technical requirements.
- Provide technical support and resolve issues related to AMI meter applications.
- Assumes the role of the Manager as required.
- Will have a designated Emergency Response (Storm) role.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
- Advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
- Eight (8) plus years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry.
- Knowledge of AMI systems and utility metering infrastructure.
- Embedded systems programming; C, C++, Python, etc.
- Excellent project management skills
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $137,000 - $152,000 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
