Our greatest asset has been, and will continue to be, our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Lead Electrical Project Engineer in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), based in Houston, TX.
Purpose:
- Oversee all aspects of the electrical infrastructure projects.
- Manages the interfaces between electrical engineering team, Facilities &Construction and Business Units teams as well as between third-party supplied engineering contractors, suppliers.
- Develop clear scope definition of all client scope and interface points including engineering deliverables, scope of services, timeline, etc.
- Support electrical project teams by providing recommendations on building electrical substations, power lines, electrical protection system protection supported by coordination and reliability studies.
- Optimize and streamline the current electrical project design process.
- Coordinates the internal and external engineering teams and ensures completeness of the Engineering/Design deliverables.
- Support and promote all requirements for overall project engineering and procurement schedules on managing cost by ensuring electrical discipline is cost effective.
- Overall responsibility reaches until acceptance of the facilities and distribution systems which includes development of close out reports and transfer of all project documentation.
- Inform and report project status realistically, openly and in good time.
- Drive electrical lessons learned, identify, and implement best practice across electrical engineering team.
- Implement new methodologies -such as reliability analysis – across ORCM.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Be an Engineering lead by ensuring the ORCM projects are implemented in Detail Engineering deliverables for achieving completion with Goal Zero incidents within agreed project timelines and approved AFE cost.
- Resolution of technical queries raised by electrical field execution and engineers and project manager teams by engaging with Project & Site team members, further ensuring queries of vendors/contractors are also resolved.
- Prepare the detailed engineering plans in the execution plan and the processes and procedures for engineering teams to follow.
- Follow-up with Partner on engineering deliverables timely completion and monitoring the review cycles.
- Ensuring the man-hour consumption of the consulting engineering is within the budget.
- Ensuring Management of Change is followed based on procedure.
- Preparing the monthly progress report and issuing the same to PM for his review before it is published to Internal ORCM stakeholders.
- Appraising electrical project engineers on the project activities.
- Analyze projects designs and develop innovative solutions to improve economics and maximize return.
- Ensuring lessons learned from experience and similar projects is not repeated.
- Design electrical power systems, including equipment sizing, overhead power line sizing, cable routing and cable sizing, equipment selection, etc.
- Get load request from business units and evaluate the power needs for these projects.
- Work with Oxy Power Solutions team to get utility services (new services, studies, etc.)
- Provide projects cost estimating and engineering proposals.
- Support the development of facilities standards, design guidelines, and tools.
- Ensure working environment is conducive to productivity to meet BU targets.
- Remove roadblocks and impediments, manages conflict (internal and external).
- Present recommendations and approval request to senior management
- Participate in QA/QC audit processes.
- Participate in annual and long-term business planning.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering; Electrical engineering in power systems preferred.
- Professional/Technical Knowledge: Expert knowledge in project management.
- Professional / Technical Qualifications/License/Certifications: PMP is a plus.
- Experience:
- 15+ years of experience
- 8 + years of Project Management Experience will be a plus.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Supervisory experience of a project engineering team.
- In depth experience with managing oil and gas development projects
- Valued contributor to business analysis and planning at all levels
- Strong communication skills (verbal/written/listening/presentation)
- Problem solving skills with ability to analyze and recommend solutions on problems of high complexity
- Will be a plus if knowledgeable of electrical safety requirements as found in publications such as NFPA 70E & NEC, NESC
