Role Summary
The Lead Developer leads a small team of developers to undertake the technical design, development and support of digital solutions for Maximus UK divisions with a focus on automations, integrations and using low code platforms. These solutions are developed for new contracts but also to support operational improvements for live contracts and back-office functions with a focus of delivering value.
Given Maximus business of supporting vulnerable people on government contracts it is critical the solutions are delivered using industry standard software engineering practices and ensuring all security, privacy and Maximus UK architecture standards and policies are adhered to. These along with business requirements are assured through, code reviews, show & tells and all types testing.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Designing, developing, delivering and supporting technology based solutions using COTS, low-code/no-code and coded methods and platforms
2. Manage the development team and working with external resources to ensure that solutions are delivered and supported to meet business requirements, through coaching, mentoring and monitoring of performance to ensure they are able to perform to the best of their ability. Ensure the team stay up-to-date with Technology industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to make recommendations for continuous improvement. Ensure that Agile practices are being taught, implemented and followed
3. Ensure projects and platform releases, within the platform family, are appropriately managed - using automation of test and release where possible - working closely with the Platform Managers or Platform Owners and supported/co-ordinated with other deployments, so they are delivered, ensuring minimal interference to ongoing business operations, to budget and within agreed time constraints. Ensure completed products meet quality requirements through adequate testing and adequate trained resourcing to support operationally within Service Level Agreements to customers satisfaction. 4. Provide advice and support to high-level and low-level design activity for products built on platforms within the platform family ensuring architectural design is suitable, performant, secure, scalable and optimised for the platform and making effective use of features to deliver efficient, effective, performant, scalable, secure solutions. Anticipate and communicate risks, as appropriate
5. Support solutions, including monitoring of performance, across your platform family through tier 2 and 3 provision, reporting and taking remedial action when required, and recommending on changes to improve performance aligned to Maximus UK Technology operational standards and governance e.g. CAB and other ITIL processes
6. Analyse and problem solve, and ensure your team are able to do this themselves, to deliver solutions within projects and during operational support within agreed timelines
7. Ensure solutions are well structured, modular, efficient and repeatable. Ability to define and stick to established conventions, conducting code reviews and giving guidance to other developers

Salary Ranges:
Non-London £45,000- £50,000
London £48,500- £53,500
Preferred Skills & Experience
Essential
• Some experience of line management of developers including coaching, training and supervision
• Proven track record of software engineering, technical design and development using various software platforms - particularly integration and automation - and applications, able to demonstrate a good understanding of platform concepts and value proposition
• Proven experience of managing business applications, low-code or traditional development environments and a structured approach to testing and software deployment
• Working with all key parties within the Software Delivery LifeCycle
• Good knowledge of code repositories e.g. GitHub
• Experience working with web services (WSDL/XML/JSON/REST)
• Demonstrable knowledge of working within various project management planning and governance using Agile or traditional (Waterfall) methodologies
• Proven ability of using core Microsoft Office products
Desirable
• Experience of Boomi or alternative integration platforms
• Experience of Automation Anywhere or alternative robotic process automation (RPA) platforms
• Agile Accreditation
• Experience in Product Management and understanding of the product approach
