LEAD COOK JOB DESCRIPTION
This position reports to the kitchen manager.
Job Overview
The Lead Cook leads a team of professional cooks in preparing a wide range of menu items to meet high standards of culinary excellence, visual appeal, safety, and consistency. The Lead Cook organizes and motivates line cooks and dishwashers by assigning tasks and giving direction during daily service. The Lead Cook supports the Kitchen Manager in a variety of administrative and culinary projects.
Experience/Knowledge:
- Professional cooking and knife-handling skills; able to use standard kitchen equipment, such as stove, oven, flat top, and fryer
- Have at least 2 yearS cooking experience in an upscale or corporate environment
- Compliant with all required health department and safety certifications, including currently valid Serv Safe certification and Hepatitis A vaccination
- Ability to read and understand kitchen terminology
