Lead Concrete Worker/Finisher

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to perform in a lead capacity doing concrete work and assisting the welders and abrasive blasters as part of a team in completing work duties and performing construction, repairs, and general maintenance on the Brazos River Authority (BRA) dams. This is accomplished by overseeing less experienced employees; pouring and finishing concrete; operating concrete saws and jackhammers to remove deteriorated concrete; building and setting concrete forms; bending, cutting, and installing reinforcing bars. Other responsibilities include operating heavy equipment; assisting the welders and abrasive blasters; assisting with scaffold erection; assisting with training and mentoring less experienced RSMU staff and any other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or field processes. The employee must have the ability to read and write basic English, perform simple arithmetic operations, and do simple data entry into a computer. The employee normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with some direction when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. Assignment is reviewed upon completion.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Work requires a level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency or an equivalent combination of experience. Three to six years of concrete experience is preferred. Carpentry experience is preferred.

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $21.41 to $27.30 per hour depending on experience level. This is a non-exempt position.

BRAZOS RIVER AUTHORITY: The BRA was created by the Texas Legislature in 1929 and exists to develop, manage and protect the water resources of the Brazos River Basin. Today, BRA's staff develops and distributes water supplies, provides water and wastewater treatment, monitors water quality, and pursues water conservation through public education programs.
