About the Job
- Shakes out and sorts soiled laundry for washing; shakes out wet flat work and rough dry work after washing.
- Operates washer-extractors, loads with soiled linen and other laundry; monitors and maintains flow and supply of detergent, bleach, softener, neutralizers and liquid seal; unloads washers.
- Operates dryers; sets timer and cooling cycle on dryers.
- Operates steam tunnels in pressing uniforms, jackets, operating gowns, coats, trousers, shirts and other articles.
- Operates automatic folder; runs damp flat work through spreader and flat work ironer; finish folds flat work from flat work ironer.
- Operates small piece folder; finish-folds rough dry work.
- Sorts, counts and stacks clean laundry; loads laundry carts according to linen orders.
- Assembles, folds, and wraps surgery, obstetric and pediatric linen packs; inspects for damaged or worn items; inserts indicator in each pack for sterilization process.
- Assists in the loading, unloading and distribution of soiled and cleaned laundry and linens.
- Maintains simple records as required.
Experience: Six months of work involving cleaning, laundry, routine maintenance or other kinds of manual labor.
License: Valid California driver's license
Read, write and understand English; operate heavy duty washers, tumbler dryers and operate steam tunnels; pick up and deliver laundry from and to various locations; understand and follow oral and written instructions; keep routine records; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; lift and move heavy loads or objects; work in a warm humid environment
